The most ‘bang for your buck’ pet insurance brands of 2021

When choosing between pet insurance brands, consider what you and your pet need to choose the one that will work best for you.

If you’re a pet parent, you know that your furry pal is worth it. Though that “worth” can cost quite a bit of money, you’re willing to do what it takes if it means that your pet can live a happy and healthy life.

But for many of us pet owners, there is a financial limit to what we can do for our pets. As much as we would love to shower them with the most expensive toys and sweaters that money can buy, it just isn’t in the budget for the average puppy or kitty parent.

When you’re on a tight budget, one of your worst nightmares could be finding that your fluffy best friend has injured themselves or has fallen ill suddenly. As a concerned parent, you rush them to the nearest vet and are hit with a sizeable bill that you just weren’t prepared for.

Consider the top pet insurance brands

There are ways to prevent this sticker shock and keep your pet healthy. Pet insurance, for example, is a great way to prepare financially for any emergencies that your pet may have.

But when it comes to pet insurance, you want to make sure that you’re getting your money’s worth, right?

To help you decide where to get your pet insurance, we have compiled this list of pet insurance brands that will give you the most “bang for your buck.”

Pumpkin Pet Insurance

When it comes to coverage, you just can’t beat Pumpkin. When you think of the best pet insurance out there, you’re expecting something that will offer your pet full coverage at a reasonable price, and Pumpkin does just that.

They offer all-inclusive insurance covering everything from regular checkups to illnesses and injuries, and even your pet’s dental work is covered. They’re also unique in that they will cover behavioral issues and alternative therapies, even physical therapy, at no extra cost to you.

All of your pet’s needs are covered by one low price that doesn’t change even if your furry friend is diagnosed with a new condition. They also cover dogs and cats when they’re eight weeks old until they cross the rainbow bridge, with no upper age restrictions. You can use their pet insurance for your sweet pet’s entire life without worrying about their coverage running out.

Nationwide

Yes, the top insurance brand that you go to for auto and home coverage offers pet insurance, too. And it’s pretty cheap.

Clocking in at a little over $30 a month, Nationwide’s plan has a $250 deductible and no maximum. Unfortunately, they do have a few drawbacks that keep some pet parents from choosing them as their pet insurance providers.

They have a few different coverage options, which is great for some, but not helpful for all. Many of their plans don’t cover behavioral issues or alternative care methods without an added fee or two.

They also have an upper age enrollment restriction, which means that your pet isn’t eligible for enrollment if they are over 10 years old. This, unfortunately, leaves your senior cat or dog entirely uninsured.

Embrace

Embrace is known as one of the cheaper pet insurance options on the market, but it’s important to remember that cheaper doesn’t always mean better.

Much like Nationwide, they offer you a few different coverage options, with some providing more benefits than others.

Unfortunately, their options leave your pet uncovered in many different aspects. They don’t cover the diagnosis or treatment of what they consider to be preventable diseases or parasites, even fleas.

They also won’t cover any Rx or special food needs that your dog or cat may need to remain healthy. Those costs can really add up, and pet insurance is a great way to avoid some of that cost, but Embrace does not offer that as part of any of their packages.

Healthy Paws

Another popular option for those seeking affordable pet insurance is Healthy Paws. Much like Pumpkin, they offer one easy package that covers your pet.

One of the biggest drawbacks to Healthy Paws is that they do not cover exams for accidents or illnesses. They also don’t cover behavioral health issues, Rx foods, or dental, which many of us need our pet insurance to help out with.

Choose the right pet insurance brand based on your pet’s needs

When it comes to the best pet insurance brand for you, the one that offers the most bang for your buck is going to be the one that provides you with the coverage you and your pet need. Take a look at different options and choose the one that fits best.
