Being on holiday does not only mean being with your friends and family only. Your loved ones may include your favorite four-legged pet, specifically your beloved canine.

A canine is a subspecies of the gray wolf, the Canis lupus, and is related to foxes and jackals. It is one of two of the most popular domestic animals globally (the cat is another). As an exceptional pet, it deserves a special vacation as well from its loving owner.

There are many dog-friendly holiday spots and ideas around the world, perfect for those who would like to spend their vacations without worrying about their beloved canine’s safety.

1. Dog-friendly cottages

Time away does not necessarily mean time away with your pets as well. Every member of the family deserves a short getaway, and that includes our favorite pet. If you have a dog who also likes running along sandy beaches or splashing through woodland streams, it is perfect to have last-minute dog-friendly holidays, and a perfect place to do that is through dog-friendly cottages. If you want some quiet time with an awesome view, away from all the hustles and bustles of the city, and a friendly place for your pet, then this is a perfect place for you.

There is a cottage in North Yorkshire called The Chapel, and it has spectacular views and is steeped in history, and is tucked away in a great, rural location right at the heart of Yorkshire Dales National Park. If you are also into climbing, it is also near Kilnsey Crag, and it offers the most challenging climbs in the area. It is also accessible to Grassington, approximately 4 miles, and has various restaurants, country shops, tea rooms, and pubs. There are also festivals to enjoy, including the Grassington festival during the summer and the Dickensian festival during winter.

2. Dog-friendly inns

If you want to give your pet a special kind of pampering, Napa River Inn, located at the historic Napa Hill, is just the right place since it offers a very special pet program that includes luxury pet treats and services, including fuzzy gourmet bones, customized blankets, readily available pet sitters and amazing pampering services such as a massage for you and your pet at the Spa at Napa River Inn after taking a walk with your dog at the riverfront. There are also a lot of great shops, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms in Downtown Napa.

3. Dog-friendly hotels

If you have the budget and you want to treat yourself, your family, and your pet to a luxurious place, then you can consider The Lawrence Hotel in Padiham, Lancashire. It’s one of the best luxury hotels for pets in the UK. It is also considered one of the UK’s best retreat places for your pet. They will make sure to turn your pet from ruff to ravishing in just one night. While your pet is enjoying its luxurious treats and services, there is a fantastic restaurant serving fresh dishes and delicious desserts that you can enjoy. You can also walk your pet around the grounds of the National Trust’s Gawthorpe Hall.

Another luxurious pet-friendly hotel is The Prescott in San Francisco. This luxurious Kimpton Hotels property located in Union Square will surely make your pet feel comfortable and at home with its amenities such as special treats upon entry and a faux sheepskin pet bed that is freshly laundered. The pets also get their pet food, bottled water, with food and water bowls. Whenever you decide to take your pet on a stroll, the hotel will also provide a handy dog leash and disposable clean-up bags.

4. Dog-friendly resorts

For some more pampering and awesome activities with your dog, you can take them to resorts and hotels. A study conducted by the American Animal Hospital Association found out that almost 62% of American pet owners travel with their dogs. With this, the Loews Hotels in the US and Canada conducted the Loews Loves Pet program to make it possible for owners to bring their pets along with them. They receive all the essentials to keep their pets happy, including pet-friendly amenities like gourmet room service, specialized bedding, and more. A resort in Orlando called Royal Pacific Resort also pampers owners and their pets.

5. Dog-friendly bed and breakfasts

Besides being a romantic place, The Vagabond’s House Bed and Breakfast Inn, located in Carmel, California, is an environment-conscious dog-friendly getaway. It offers eleven unique rooms, each with fireplaces, private bathrooms, private entrances, and a unique English country ambiance. There is a spa that offers massages, body scrubs, and masks. After relaxing at the hotel, there are also many activities, including whale watching at Pt. Lobos, hiking through Soberanes Canyon, and visiting water creatures at Monterey Bay Aquarium. You can also drop by The Cheese Shop to shop and have a unique culinary experience.

6. Dog-friendly lodges

If you want to explore the outdoors with your dog, the Tenaya lodge in Yosemite National Park is an ideal place. There is a plush dog bed that your dog will enjoy, and a water bowl will be provided for use during your stay. There is also a Canine fact sheet that features fun suggestions on areas to explore on your getaway.
