Dog begging

dog begging category page imageDog begging isn’t instinctive behavior. Unfortunately, dogs are taught to do so by people. And once they know it works, it’s hard to stop.

The easiest way to stop dog begging is to prevent it from starting. Don’t tolerate it from your dog or let any people encourage it.

Ignore your pet when he begs. Do not speak or look at him. Any food that accidentally falls to the ground will reinforce begging behavior.

Feed your dog before you eat. A puppy or dog with a full belly will be less likely to beg.

If you can’t avoid this situation, you may need to confine the dog in a different area during mealtime.

Ten essential commands: Use basic dog commands to mold your canine companion into a well-behaved and well-disciplined member of your family.

Train your dog to be polite to strangers: Train your dog to be polite — or at least indifferent — to strangers to help your dog be the best version of himself that he can be.

Stop your dog from jumping: Start early to prevent dog jumping. Be consistent and train your dog to sit calmly rather than jump to show excitement.

Reward your dog for good behavior: Reward your dog quickly for good canine behavior using time playing with you, occasional treats or special toys.
