When you are living an eco-friendly life, you will want to make sure that any changes you make are reflected in everything thing that you do.

Often, parents enforce specific rules in their homes to make sure that all members of the family are living in an eco-friendly way – but what about pets?

Living an eco-friendly life with your dog isn’t easy, but if you are willing to make some changes, you can make this happen. Read on to hear some of our tips for achieving this.

Buy natural dog food

If you want to make sure that your dog is living an eco-friendly lifestyle with you and your family, you will need to think about the food that you are giving them. Not all dog food is eco-friendly despite how quickly your dog will eat it.

Natural dog food is often the better option when it comes to living in an eco-friendly way with your dog. Companies like Wild Thought offer plenty of eco-friendly options that include vegetarian and vegan food. Make sure to consider this carefully.

Choose eco-friendly accessories

When you buy your dog accessories, you will want to make sure that you are buying them something that they like. Not only should the accessories be comfortable to wear, but they should also be made by companies who are operating in an eco-friendly way.

Usually, brands will let you know if they are sustainable and are involved in doing their part for the environment. Check this information, and you should be able to find a brand to suit you and your dog.

Recycle containers

Another great way to include your dog in your eco-friendly lifestyle is to recycle any containers from their food. If you are already recycling your waste, then you will probably be already doing this.

Just make sure to check that everything can be recycled and sort it carefully. You are best to invest in food cans for your dog, as these are commonly recycled. Just make sure that it is natural food in those containers!

Use eco-friendly dog bags

When you take your dog for a walk, you should consider the kinds of dog bags that you will use to collect their waste. No one wants to have to pick up dog waste, but this is something that is required by law in many areas.

When buying dog poop bags, make sure that you are looking for the kind that can be recycled. If you are involved in composting, you will want to choose biodegradable bags. This way, you can make sure that your dog is living in an eco-friendly way as well.

Donate old toys

The final tip that we have for those who want to live in an eco-friendly way with their dogs is to donate any old toys or accessories. It can be easy to throw things out when they get a bit worn or damaged, but this doesn’t have to be the end.

Animal shelters typically require donations, so if you can find one that will take your old items, you will be able to do two good things at once. Make sure to check out some shelters in your local area.

Try it today

There is no reason why you and your dog can’t control both live eco-friendly lifestyles alongside each other. If this is something that you are considering, make sure to try out some of the ideas that we have given you here in this article. Soon, you’ll have an entire family that is eco-friendly.
