Easy chicken dog food recipes to make for man’s best friend

In the United States alone, there are over 85 million pet owners. With so many of us owning pets, it’s easy to see why we are getting serious about their health and happiness by upgrading their daily diets. 

To help you take your pup’s food from edible to extraordinary, we have put together a list of the top chicken dog food recipes you can create for your furry friend.

Chicken jerky 

This first dog food recipe chicken recipe is simple. You will first need the following:

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Turmeric 

You will then cut the chicken into small strips and season with turmeric. Once the chicken is cut and seasoned, you will lay it on a baking sheet and cook at 200 degrees for 2 hours. 

The chicken strips will take on a jerky-like consistency and are perfect for a healthy snack. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge to keep them fresh.

Chicken and sweet potato hash

This is a fun recipe that will taste great and help fight inflammation. For the recipe, gather the following ingredients:

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 3 sweet potatoes 
  • 1 apple 
  • 1.5 cups of cooked brown rice 
  • Turmeric 
  • Fresh rosemary 
  • Flaxseed oil 

Once you have gathered all of the ingredients, get a large dutch oven or heavy-bottomed skillet. Cut the chicken, sweet potato, and apple into chunks and season with Turmeric, and saute’ until cooked through. Or, if you feel like going the extra mile, cooking chicken thighs on the grill is also something you can do. Our dogs love grilled chicken, and it will fit this recipe perfectly as well.

Finish the dish off by adding the cooked brown rice, fresh Rosemary, and a drizzle of flaxseed oil. 

Chicken and vegetable stew 

This recipe is easy to make, and you might even enjoy it! For this recipe, gather the following ingredients:

  • 2 pounds ground chicken
  • 2 large carrots 
  • 2 cups of zucchini 
  • 2 cups of kale 
  • 2 cups of sweet potato 
  • 1/2 of a cup of lentils 
  • 1 cup of quinoa 
  • 1/2 of a cup of unsweetened cranberries
  • 1 pint of low sodium chicken bone broth
  • Fresh thyme, rosemary, and parsley 

Once you have gathered the ingredients, chop the vegetables, and add everything to your crockpot. Cook everything together in the crockpot on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours. Be sure to cool the stew down before your pup digs in!

Chicken and pumpkin treats 

This is an easy dog for with chicken recipe your pup is sure to love. For this recipe, you are going to need:

  • 1 pound of ground chicken
  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1 can of pumpkin puree
  • Turmeric
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of ground flax seed

Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly; then, once everything is mixed, you should have enough batter for around 45 dog treats. Place the individual treats on a baking tray and cook for 3 hours at 250 degrees. Once the treats have baked, let them cool and enjoy!

Remember that your dog should never have certain foods such as chocolate, raw onions, grapes, or raisins. Stick with these simple recipes, and you and your pup will both be happy!
