Maintain your dog’s joint health with a balanced diet, regular activity, weight checks, joint supplements, and creating a safe environment.

It is essential to take utmost care of your dog’s joint health to avoid inflammation and pain in these sensitive parts. A little effort and proper knowledge about the same can help in this direction. To ease this task for you, we have compiled helpful tips. So, read on!

Balanced diet

A balanced diet is key to maintain overall health and well-being. This is not just true for humans but animals too. Your pet requires all the essential minerals, vitamins, and proteins to grow appropriately and keep various illnesses, including joint pain at bay. You must thus ensure it eats healthy. It is also essential to serve an appropriate portion size every single time.

Physical activity

Regular exercise is key to maintaining your dog’s healthy weight and reducing joint pain and stress.

Lack of physical activity causes excessive weight gain. Increased body weight exerts pressure on the joint areas such as hips and knees. This leads to pain in these spots.

This is why veterinary doctors recommend dog owners take their pets for long walks and indulge in playful outdoor activities. Those with huge builds should mainly be involved in such activities to lower the possibility of accumulating excessive fat.

Weight check

Healthy body weight goes a long way in maintaining joint health. It is suggested to keep your pet’s weight in check so that you can work on it as soon as you notice an increase. Checking its weight regularly must be practiced as a ritual even if you involve it in regular outdoor activities.

Joint supplements

Joint supplements must be given to your pets in addition to a healthy and balanced diet. Alpha Dog Nutrition joint supplements are loaded with nutrients such as chondroitin, glucosamine, methylsulfonylmethane, omega-3 fatty acids, turmeric, and yucca root.

The right amount of each of these ingredients is added to these supplements to strengthen and lubricate the cartilage, bar the possibility of joint inflammation, promote good digestion and keep the joint health intact. These supplements even aid in healing joint pain. These are thus advised, in addition to the prescribed medicines for dogs suffering from this painful condition. However, it is best to give them to your pets early to avoid this problem from occurring.

Safe environment

Even minor knee and hip injuries can lead to swelling, redness, and pain in the joints over time. Pet owners should thus take extreme care while involving their adorable furry friends in playful activities. Most importantly, a safe environment must be created at home so that there is a bare minimum chance of tumbling or falling while roaming around at home.

Don’t ignore threats to joint health

It is important not to ignore even the slightest of signs that are indicative of joint pain. If you notice your pet limping, showing disinterest in outdoor activities, finding it difficult to climb stairs, or whining, then it is time to consult a vet and start with the necessary treatment.

We hope these simple tips promoting joint health help you take better care of your adorable buddies.
