Scotland is one of the coolest places to rest after a long busy week or holiday season. You can discover new places, meet new people, or enjoy a creative time with loved ones. But of what use are such luxury holidays if you can’t be in the company of your kitty or dog?

Your dog also deserves some time off. But many people dread pet-inclusive holidays due to accommodation restrictions. But don’t worry; there are many dog-friendly lodges with hot tubs Scotland. So, a place to go shouldn’t be a thing of concern.

Read the guide below to learn how you can plan luxury holidays with your dog in the deal.

Tips for taking your dog on a luxury holiday vacation

Find a dog-friendly location

Different cities around Scotland and UK have resorts with specific rules for pets. Moreover, some don’t allow pets at all. If you’re planning on spending some time with your dog at the beach, you should note that certain beaches don’t allow pets at certain times of the year. However, you’ll find many others that suit you.

Some dog-friendly beaches in Scotland include Sandwood Bay, Big Sand, Balnakeli Beach, and Nairn Beach. To be safe, we advise you to do your research thoroughly to avoid disappointment. Also, whatever public place you’re visiting, please clean up your puppy’s mess after them and use a lead in populated areas.

Consider some factors when booking an accommodation

There’ll be those starry nights when nothing feels more soothing than to lie in a hot tub, staring into the sky and, of course, with your four-legged friend. So, you must consider certain factors, depending on your preferences. More importantly, there should be a large open space for your dog to stretch its legs.

Also, pay attention to cottages with dog-friendly floors. You don’t want paw prints on a nice carpet after a long walk at the beach. You might also consider extras such as a pet bed and a wood burner or fireplace beside which your dog can curl up to stay warm. Hooks for dog leads and dog-themed wallpapers are a welcome plus.

Pack some extras

A holiday with your furred friend will require some extra items when you pack up your bags. First, a harness, lead, or collar is a must. This is important for those all-important fun walks by the beach. While some dog-friendly cottages have food and water bowls, you might need to take your dog’s bowl along just in case it gets picky.

You should also take some of your dog’s special treats and toys to make the time more enjoyable for it. Since there’ll be water at your destination, pack enough food. Lastly, you’ll need an extra set of blankets and towels. They’re basic necessities after a long walk at the beach or a time in the pool.

Familiarize your pooch with the new environment on arrival

Your pooch may get nervous and attempt to run off. As such, you must always keep them on a lead. After you’ve arrived at your cottage reservation, it’s important to walk around the facility and the surrounding environment with your dog.

This will make it familiarize with the environment and feel safer. This walk is important to prevent it from wandering and getting lost. Also, it’s a good idea to microchip your pooch so you can find it easily if it gets missing.
