Research to determine the right dog breed for you before adopting a puppy. Consider your time, temperament, and lifestyle.

Adopting a puppy is a big decision. Sometimes people bring it home and only then think: what to do with it now?

Sometimes you may even want to return it. To prevent this from happening, you need to prepare, learn about the breed’s features, care for it, and the main commands. We will try to cover the main points in this article.

Where to look for information?

Of course, we will not collect everything you need in one article. Therefore, you need to look for other sources. Luckily, in 2022, you can find hundreds of Instagram blogs dedicated to pets, including dogs.

As a rule, experienced pet owners maintain accounts where they talk about how to care for dogs, what food to buy and how to solve various problems. By the way, when you become an experienced dog owner, you can start your own Instagram account.

Such accounts practically do not need promotion. You do not have to spend money to get an audience and, for example, buy Instagram followers because, as a rule, users subscribe to many profiles related to topics that interest them.

There are few blogs, for example, about entertainment or everyday content. Therefore, you will be in demand in the market.

We recommend that you study all the information before buying or adopting a puppy because it’s too late once you bring the dog home. This approach will help you get along well with the dog in the future and allow you to become a real professional who can independently maintain an expert blog without the need to buy real Instagram followers.

Now let’s talk about what you need to do before adopting a puppy.

Choose the right breed

First of all, you need to decide on the breed. Consider your temperament, physical capabilities, and lifestyle. For example, if you spend a lot of time at work, then a calm dog that does not need long walks for a burst of energy will suit you.

Selecting a puppy

If you have decided on the breed, you can decide whether to buy your puppy from a breeder or adopt one from a shelter. Before selecting a breeder, you need to read reviews, talk with breeders, ask them questions that interest you. Make sure you know what you expect from a puppy. That way, if you want to get a dog to show, compete, or breed, the breeder can help you choose the right one.

What to buy for a puppy

Before bringing your puppy home, make sure you get the right supplies. You’ll need bowls for food and water, a soft and reliable collar, a leash, combs, brushes for grooming, a nail cutter, bedding, toys, and more. You also need to purchase grooming supplies like shampoos and conditioners.

Understand puppy nutrition

Food choice is an eternal topic of controversy for all cynologists and dog owners. After taking the puppy from the breeder, continue to feed him the same food, at least for the first time. A sudden change in diet can harm the emerging body. If, in the future, for some reason, decide to change the diet, then be patient.

Get vaccinations

Dogs, like humans, have vaccination schedules. The breeder usually does the first vaccinations. If you pick up a puppy at an early age, after the first vaccination, then the responsibility for revaccination falls on you. Compulsory vaccinations against the most common diseases and rabies are required annually.

Prepare to adopt a puppy successfully

We hope that this article has helped you understand many details to consider before adopting a puppy.
