Every couple has a how we met story. Some are common. Others are too exciting to be true. But all the best include dogs that bring together dog lovers!
We’ll look into stories from three couples who met thanks to their dogs and found romance. You’ll never look for a wingman who doesn’t chase his tail after today.
The rubber bone that woke up love
Now a proud pug owner, John shared how a great hookup turned into an even better relationship. All of that because of a rubber toy.
“I joined a dating site to find local hookups quickly because I was new in the town. After half an hour of playing that matchmaking game, a girl with a cute, ugly dog liked me. I liked her back. Her attention encouraged me to send a message even though she was out of my league. She still is.
We started chatting, and she turned out to be the funniest girl I’ve met in a while. Her love for the dog in the photo was evident. It was just the two of them in a small apartment back then. The chemistry was there, and a couple of days after, we met in a bar.
She was perfect in every way, but I knew that’s supposed to be just a one-night stand, so I didn’t want to fall for her. She seemed interested in a hookup and nothing more. I was ok with that. At the time, I’d have cut my pinky for a night with someone like her. When she invited me to her apartment, I followed her without question.
No. You won’t get any details. I’m a gentleman. But we did spend a beautiful night together.
Right before dawn, I wanted to sneak out of her apartment. I didn’t want to go through the awkwardness. That was the 3rd one-night stand in my life.
Two steps away from the apartment door, I stepped on a squeaky rubber bone. Of course, that was a sign for the pug that someone wanted to play. She appeared in front of me, wiggling her tiny tail. Our noise woke up the beautiful girl in the next room.
Her heart melted when she saw how I played with her furry friend. She asked if I wanted coffee. That was the first of many morning coffees. Just because our dog doesn’t pick toys when she finishes playing.”
I adopted a dog and gave her heart a home
Rick was looking for a friend to make him more active but got the whole package.
“I had a car accident, so I had to walk a lot to fix my legs. I’m lazy, so I needed even more motivation to do that. Getting a dog seemed like a good idea. The same day, I saw that the girl from my town desperately wanted to find a home for the puppies she’d found next to the dumpster.
One was perfect for me. It had playfulness in the eyes; I needed that. So I slid into her inbox to ask about puppies. The next day, I was at her doorstep. Waiting for her to open.
Puppies swarmed me with their tiny sharp teeth, but I couldn’t take my eyes off her. I could say she liked me too.
Somehow I managed to snap from the spell her green eyes put onto me and pick my puppy. Thank God I was courageous enough to ask her to show me all the best places for long dog walks in the area. We started seeing each other every day because of the puppies (she kept one). That was 13 years ago. I’m writing this while she and our two old dogs snore next to me. Love is beautiful.”
Dogs helped break the ice. The rest is happily ever after
Melanie met her husband on a dating site. Of course, their dogs are responsible for their happiness.
“I know some people don’t consider meeting online to be romantic, but when you feel instant chemistry with someone, that’s romantic regardless of where you meet.
Chris and I met because we both had profile photos with our dogs. As a coincidence, we both took those pictures in the same park roughly at the same time. That served as a good ice-breaker, so I decided to try my luck.
A year later, we got married. Now we spend every wedding anniversary in that park. We’re even thinking about taking our dogs for a kayaking trip if we manage to teach them everything on time.”
