5 tips to pick the right crate for your dog

When buying a dog crate, get one that will be comfortable for your dog. Get the right size, one that’s lightweight and easy to transport.

Dog lovers, trainers, and owners, sincerely rely on dog crates or cages. Not all pups are the same; some dogs grow into loving and peaceful pets, while others need training. Just like people, dogs need to be trained and taught about how they need to act.

When you have a dog that is not fully obeying orders, or they are simply a breed that requires a crate, then you’re probably wondering what kind you need. Don’t buy the first one you find. Make sure you get one that meets all of your dog’s needs.

Use this article to explore the critical features of dog crates so you can get the right one for your dog.

1. Measure your dog

It’s essential to choose a dog crate that is big enough for your pet. Start by measuring and weighing your dog.

But don’t get one that is too big. Look for one you can adjust as your puppy grows into an adult. In general, look for a crate that is 30×30 inches for small breeds up to 60 pounds. Bigger dogs that weigh more than 180 pounds need a crate that is 72×36 inches or larger.

2. Consider a custom-made crate

When you think about purchasing a crate, think about finding a company that creates custom cages that meet your needs.

Every dog is different; some are more agile, while others are calm and don’t require as much space.

Look at Ozy Toolbox Centre to see your options and choose a cage that’s right for your dog.

3. Make your dog comfortable

The most important thing is to find a crate that keeps your dog comfortable. You want to confine your dog, but not torture him. And soundproofing a dog crate will help make your pet feel more cozy and comfortable.

Some owners choose an entirely closed crate, that provides no airflow from the sides. Make sure you get a crate that allows airflow so your dog won’t have trouble breathing or risk overheating. Dogs need fresh air.

Also consider getting a crate with two doors, either one with doors on either end or one with a door on the top and front.

This will make it easier to transport your dog.

4. Get a lightweight crate

If you have a small dog, the crate’s weight won’t be an issue, but if you have to transport a large breed, a heavy crate can be difficult to pick up and move.

This is why you need a cage made of lightweight material. Consider a crate made of carbon or aluminum, but get what best fits your budget and needs.

The bottom line is the crate needs to be lightweight enough so you can pick up both your dog and the crate.

5. Make sure the crate’s easy to transport

When you find the right size, make sure it’s comfortable for your dog and is lightweight, the only things left to consider are the accessories like a handle or wheels.

Choose the right crate

These are some of the most important things to consider when looking for a dog cage. Make sure you get one that is the right size and comfortable for your dog. Look for a cage that’s lightweight and easy to transport. To make sure you get exactly what you want, consider buying a custom-made cage.

Find these features, and you’ve got yourself a perfect dog crate to use in various situations.
