Cats vs. dogs: Differences include size, food, communication styles, memory, potty breaks, and exercise needs.

Cats and dogs are not the natural enemies; many people might believe them to be. Most cats and dogs can live peacefully under one roof.

While dogs are more likely to chase unfamiliar cats, they usually will bond with any cats living in the same home and create and a unified family pack.

The key is to introduce the animals carefully, so you don’t end up with any injuries or longterm fear.

Focus on the dogs: Forget about training cats. Focus on obedience and teach the dog to respect the cat.

Choose the right cat: Before you bring a cat home, observe it, and try to imagine how its personality will mesh with your dog’s. For example, if your dog loves to chase, look for a cat that is calm and confident.

Give the cat space: Provide an area that can be the cat’s alone. Make sure this place is off-limits to your dog; that way, your cat would have a sanctuary in case it wants to get away from its new canine housemate.
