Think you know greyhounds? Hint: They’re more than just speed

Posted January 1, 2018

Despite what many people may think, greyhounds are low-energy dogs that make great pets.

When you think of greyhounds, most of us think of racing.

The popular yet controversial sport has dominated the racing scene for many decades.

As a result, there is a lot of misinformation about greyhounds in general.

For starters, most people believe the dogs are high energy, and that’s likely because they can reach top speeds of 45 mph.

But the opposite is true. The dogs have been nicknamed “couch potatoes” due to their relaxed, low-energy temperaments.

The dogs are quiet and affectionate – their low energy also makes them the ideal pet for a small house or apartments.

And, did you know they are the only breed of dog mentioned in the Bible?

The people at Greyhounds as Pets are experts. With all of their continuous research, they compiled a list of the most interesting facts and created the infographic below.

So whether you’re interested in someday owning a greyhound, or maybe you want to read more about this docile breed, check out the infographic below for more!

Interested in adopting one, visit Petfinder.com, Gods Greyts Greyhound Group of Orlando, Fla., Star City Greyhound Adoptions Inc. of Roanoke, Va., or Personalized Greyhounds Inc. of  New Cumberland, Pa.
