Find your pup’s favorite spot for dog walks

Posted September 22, 2018

Dachshund wearing harness is ready for his walk, find your favorite spot for dog walks.
Explore your area to find your favorite spot for dog walks.

Your dog lives for three things — you (his beloved owner), food and – most importantly – walkies. Regular walks are essential for your furry friend’s health, as well as giving them the opportunity to socialize with other canines along the way as you find your pup’s favorite spot for dog walks.

Would you want to be cramped up inside all day, every day?

No, you wouldn’t, so it should come as no surprise to learn that the daily walk is your pet’s favorite activity.

Of course, some places are more dog-friendly than others, and your dog will enjoy discovering some spots more than others.

From walking around the park to discovering an array of new smells at the beach, determine your pup’s favorite spot for dog walks.

A favorite spot for dog walks: Local park

The local park is a common and favorite spot for dog walks. Here, you will find winding paths, children on playground equipment and green fields where your furry friend can run to his heart’s content.

It is always good to mix up which park you take your dog to, however, as your dog loves to discover new smells that will run its nose into overdrive.

Depending on the age and breed of your pooch, parks with longer routes make for terrific morning/afternoon/evening walks that will give them a good workout. If your dog can’t quite walk on as long as they used to, consider a shorter route so as they still benefit from a good walk.

A favorite spot for dog walks: Woods

If you are the proud owner of a sniffer dog, then somewhere rich in new and exotic smells will create a favorite spot for dog walks. Woods are filled with wildlife such as rabbits and foxes, which will provide an abundance of new smells for your pet.

Of course, you should keep your dog out of harm’s way, so if you do fancy a walk through the woods we advise doing so in daylight hours.

Autumn makes for a fantastic season for a good old-fashioned woodlands walk, the leaves and twigs that have fallen will make a fun course for your dog to run through.

A favorite spot for dog walks: Seaside

Oh, I do love being beside the seaside, and so does your dog. For many pups, the beach is a favorite spot for dog walks.

Although some coastal towns keep their beaches pet free, many do keep sections open for families with dogs to soak in the sun along with the furriest member of the family.

Walking through sand will force both you and your pup to expend a little more effort, which will help keep your pooch fit and healthy.

It also means that whenever and wherever you fancy a sit-down, you can set up camp somewhere comfortable. On the beach, it is quite common for dogs to dig until they reach damp sand where they can settle down and keep cool.

A favorite spot for dog walks: To school and back

Have a youngster that you walk to school and back? If so, why not bring the dog along, too?

It makes for a good excuse to get the dog out, while you know that both your pooch and little one(s) will love walking alongside each other.

In fact, if your child has had something of a bad day at school, seeing their best friend waiting for them through the gates will undoubtedly bring a smile to their face.

Likewise, your dog will love the surprise of seeing their number one playmate walk through the gates. A match made in heaven!
